Hallo allemaal,
Ik heb dit gedicht zo'n 3 maanden geleden voor het eerst gehoord in port Macquarie. Ik moest er laatst weer aan denken dat ik het zo'n mooi gedicht vond en heb het op internet opgezocht. Ik wilde het even met jullie delen.
The love of field and coppice,
Of green and shaded lanes,
Of ordered woods and gardens
Is running in your veins.
Strong love of grey-blue distance
Brown streams and soft, dim skies-
I know but cannot share it,
My love is otherwise.
love a sunburnt country,
A land of sweeping plains,
Of ragged mountain ranges,
Of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons,
I love her jewel sea,
Her beauty and her terror-
The wide brown land for me
The stark white ring-barked forests
All tragic to the moon,
The sapphire-misted mountains,
The hot gold hush of noon.
Green tangle of the brushes,
Where lithe lianas coil,
And orchids deck the tree-tops
And ferns the warm dark soil.
Core of my heart, my country!
Her pitiless blue sky,
When, sick at heart, around us
We see the cattle die-
But then the grey clouds gather,
And we can bless again
The drumming of an army,
The steady soaking rain
Core of my heart, my country!
Land of the Rainbow Gold,
For flood and fire and famine,
She pays us back threefold.
Over the thirsty paddocks,
Watch, after many days,
That filmy veil of greenness
That thickens as we gaze..
An opal-hearted country,
A wilful, lavish land
All you who have not loved her,
You will not understand-
Though earth holds many splendors,
Wherever I may die,
I know to what brown country
My homing thoughts will fly.

Lieve Renee,
Heb het gedicht net geprint voor Bruce. We waren de afgelopen week in Port Maquarie. Heb daar mijn 60e... gevierd... nou ja...... beetje maar want Bruce moest rugby kijken en het goot..... maar heb wel de dolfijnen in zee zien spelen.... -

We hebben al weer een tijdje niets laten horen, maar volgen je wel op de voet. Je hebt het wel naar je zin daar volgens ons. Blijf genieten en schrijven.

Hoe ga je deze liefdesuiting nu bestendigen dacht ik in vroege zondagochtend terugmijmerend naar mijn eigen ervaringen in dat verrassende aardige land.kort genieten of altijd blijven zijn dan de dromen waarmee je in de ochtend mee wakker wordt.wie ooit gezegd dat dromen bedroog zijn, bedriegt zichzelf.
